A work session will be held by state lawmakers this afternoon to discuss a bill that would require Maine school busses to use crossing arms.

Current state law does not require crossing arms on buses built 2021.

The bill would mandate bus drivers to use them when picking students up and dropping students off, failure to do so means they could lose their school bus operator endorsement for at least two years.

The bill comes after two Maine Children were struck and killed late last year by their own school buses.
