The Hallowell police chief is recommending the city council not renew The Quarry Tap Room liquor license.

Chief Zachary Kindelan says the bar and restaurant has been to scene of 15 incidents since July, resulting in 11 arrests or summons, including some for OUIs.

He said Tap Room management did not show up for a meeting last week to discuss concerns and a way to move forward. Kindelan said the meeting was to include Code Enforcement, the Fire Chief, and Liquor Enforcement.

Kindelan also said the incidents involving their response focus heavily around the Friday and Saturday night crowds.

He said he has spoken with some of the staff who were receptive to making changes, but has not seen any improvements.

A public hearing for the Quarry Tap Room’s liquor license renewal is scheduled for Monday night.
