New polling from the Washington Post has Democrat Troy Jackson with a slight lead over incumbent Republican Susan Collins in the race for U.S. Senate.

The poll released Friday shows Jackson leading by 4 points, which falls within the poll’s margin of error.

It’s the latest in a series of polls that has Jackson just edging Collins out, with the exception of a New York Times poll released late last month that had Collins slightly ahead.

The race is garnering national attention, as a win for Jackson could shake up the balance of power in Congress.

The polling was released the same week that Sen. Collins and Jackson engaged in a fiery debate Thursday night.

Jackson accused Collins of falling short in addressing rising energy costs in Congress, while Collins accused him of supporting policies that contributed to Maine’s high electricity costs.

Collins also demanded an apology after Jackson accused her of profiting from the war in Iran, calling the claim “outrageous.”

The two also sparred over the future of ICE and whether Collins sides with President Trump too often.

Collins and Jackson had a rare agreement that high earners should pay more into Social Security.

The two will debate again twice next week.
