Frank Del Duca of Bethel is in the running for an Olympic medal in the two-man bobsled competition in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
Del Duca and teammate Joshua Williamson are in fourth place after the first two runs held on Monday, with the final two runs to take place on Tuesday. Del Duca pilots the sled, while Williamson is the brakeman.
The top three spots, which will be awarded medals at the end, are all German teams.
Del Duca and Williamson are 1.34 seconds behind the leaders, but only 0.1second out of third place.
It’s Del Duca’s second Olympics, after also competing in the 2022 Games, where he finished tied for 13th.
He placed fourth in the 2025 World Bobsled Championships in the 2- and 4-man bobsled events.
The final two heats are on Tuesday, starting at 1 p.m. EST.
Del Duca was one of two American flag bearers for the Opening Ceremonies. He’s an Italian American, with three of his four grandparents hailing from the country where the Olympics are taking place.
