Man Accused of Assaulting Security Guard in Downtown Portland

A 31-year-old homeless man is accused of attacking and injuring a security guard in Portland early Monday morning.

Police were sent to 1 City Center at Monument Square around 3:50 a.m. for a report that a security guard had been “severely assaulted.”

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment.

The incident was captured on security cameras, allowing officers to get a photo and description of the suspect.

Police spotted the suspect, 31-year-old Daniel Noble, who is unhoused, on Marginal Way around 5:20 a.m. on Monday.

Noble was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, robbery, aggravated criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
