Police say a man who fled from deputies after several crashes in York County was found hiding in a pond.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says Zackery Lacourse, 21, of Lebanon was seen driving erratically without his headlights on on Main St. in Waterboro around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Lacourse continued driving and struck a vehicle being driven by a 30-year-old Shapleigh woman, who was not injured.

Deputies say he then drove into the parking lot at the Waterboro House of Pizza, where he struck two parked vehicles and a residence before fleeing on foot.

Lacourse was tracked to a nearby pond with the help of K-9 unit.

He was arrested and faces charges of OUI, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, failure to stop for a police officer, operating after suspension, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash.

He’s being held at York County Jail on $1,700 cash and is expected to make an initial court appearance on Wednesday.
