A motorcyclist is dead after a fiery crash on Route 302 in Windham Wednesday night involving an accused impaired driver.

Windham Police say witnesses reported seeing a 2016 white GMC pickup truck driving erratically along Route 302 at about 7 pm.

The pickup truck hit another vehicle, a 2010 Honda Odyssey driven by Melinda Poirier of Casco.

Police say the pickup continued traveling a short distance before slamming into a motorcycle, which burst into flames and killed the motorcycle rider instantly.

That person has not been identified.

The pickup truck driver is identified as 33-year-old Chad Jordan of Westbrook, who officers say was impaired.

They say their preliminary investigation indicates Jordan was a primary causation factor of the crash.

He’s being charged with OUI, with further charges expected after further investigation and case review by the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office.

Jordan was taken to Cumberland County Jail.
