Ogunquit Pedestrian Drawbridge Bridge Stuck in Raised Up Position

Ogunquit Pedestrian Drawbridge Bridge Stuck in Raised Up Position

Perkins Cove Bridge - Town of Ogunquit

The Perkins Cove Bridge in Ogunquit is closed to pedestrian traffic because of a mechanical problem causing it to stay in the raised-up position.

The town says the pedestrian drawbridge is stuck open, and Ogunquit town staff are working with contractors to determine next steps.

Visitors are being encouraged to use taxi or shuttle services, rather than attempting to walk between the two sides of Perkins Cove.

The town says there’s no safe pedestrian detour around the bridge.

Meanwhile, the town says it has already secured about $2.75 million in federal and state funding that will go toward a replacement for the bridge. Town staff says the replacement bridge is currently in the final design stage.

They say the replacement project remains a top priority and is subject to required environmental permitting and regulatory approvals before construction can begin.
