A school in Pittston was placed in lockdown on Wednesday while authorities executed a search warrant related to the discovery of explosives during a traffic stop earlier this week.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and a state police tactical team searched a residence on Wiscasset Road just before noon and took 43-year-old Nicholas Presby of Augusta into custody without incident.

He was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation that began in Newcastle on Monday, when authorities found explosive devices during a traffic stop.

Part of Route 27 or Dresden Rd. remained closed Wednesday afternoon.

A lockdown at Pittston-Randolph Consolidated School was lifted later in the day.

Police said there’s no current threat to the public.
