A Maine man has been charged in connection with the death of a Skowhegan man who drowned in the Kennebec River on July 4.

Jakub Prokup, 21, was a passenger on a boat that was traveling upriver from the Hinkley Boat Launch in Skowhegan.

Maine Game Wardens say Prokup, who wasn’t wearing a life jacket, was thrown from the boat and drowned.

The boat’s driver, Charles Frost, 22, of Cannan, has been charged with manslaughter and operating a watercraft under the influence causing death.
