A Mount Desert woman and her two young grandchildren were found dead Sunday morning, after their vehicle was found submerged in a pond.

Sharon Bukulmez, 61, was last seen at around 8:30, Saturday evening, leaving a family function in Jonesboro with her 5-year-old granddaughter and 3-year-old grandson both of Bar Harbor.

After not making it to their destination in Machias, police were contacted.

Police tracked Bukulmez’s cell phone and was located at Pond Cove in Roque Bluffs.

Dive teams found the vehicle under water with the three victims inside.

They were taken to the Maine Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, for autopsies.
